The Necklace [Part 1]
-Imam Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Abdul Baqi was born in the year 442 Hijri on 10th of Safar in Baghdad, Iraq. - He was a great great grand son of the Sahabi (Companion of the Prophet) Ka'ab bin Malik, who was known as one of the "Poets/Orators of the Prophet". Ka'ab is also known as one of the three companions who tarried behind at the Battle of Tabuk. Allah absolved them by revealing the verse "And Allah did forgive the three whom the Prophet left till for them the earth, as vast as it is, was straitened..." [At-Taubah:118] - He memorized Quraan by the age of seven. - One of his most famous students is Imaam Ibn-Al-Jawzi. - He was also nick-named Al-Ansaari, Al-Baghdaadi, Al-Hanbali (due to his preference of Hanbali school of thought in Fiqh), and Qaadhi Al-Marastaan (Judge of Al-Marastaan/Al-Maaristaan). - So what is Al-Marastaan/Al-Maaristaan? It's a derivative of the persian word "BeeMaaristaan". Baghdaad was one of the first cities in the world to establish organized medical facilitis (with paid staff such as physicians and opticians) called "Bimaaristaan" which in time came to be known as "Al-Marastaan" (We would call it a Hospital in present day terminology). - He was known as a Muhadith (Leaders among the memorizers of Hadith) in his time/locality. This is because the chain of narrators for the Prophetic narrations/traditions through him was the shortest among the living Muhadits of his time. He committed the whole collection of hadiths reported in Saheeh Al-Bukhaari ...
